One Week Left: What Lies Ahead for Me

I must say that this internship in New York City has been one of the best experiences of my life! I have learned a lot about writing online and how to market on the Web more than ever before.

And also doors have now opened because of my time here. My friend, Ryan Taylor, got a job as a designer at Utah Business Magazine. I asked him if there were any internships available there. He talked to his editor and she emailed me back and said they would love to have me as their intern for the Fall Semester. This could turn into a job opportunity in the future. I am definitely going to work as if it is my job, just like I have been doing here at PC Mag.

I will be writing content for their Web site, writing and sending out a newsletter, doing marketing work, putting up podcasts and writing for a blog. Jamie Stum, the managing editor, said I can even do design for print and online and she said she would love my help in that.

New York City is fun and all but I would not want to live here. The commute really sucks. So many people get stuffed in that train. It's just way too crowded. It takes me about 45 minutes to get to work today and that is just to another side of Manhattan. I also really miss back West. If I had to live in a big media place, I would rather work in California. It's still West and more laid back than New York. I also want to be close to home.

I am planning to have a great time before I leave. I will be going to Central Park on those boats (the ones you see in Enchanted) and Six Flags in New Jersey. I also told Patrice, my convert in Bensonhurst, that I would come to her ward Sunday.

I'm excited for what the future has in store for me. No matter what, this internship has been one of the best experiences in my life.
