The Most Random Day in NYC Ever!

Saturday was a highly packed day of fun in New York City. In fact, probably the most packed since I have been here. But is was also really random. Let's start from the beginning. First I went to Central Park with the hope of getting on the row boats, the same ones in the movie Enchanted. Well that didn't work out so well. It was pouring rain and rain and boats really don't mix. I also got completely drenched from the rain, my umbrella did not do much to save me, and my shoes squeaked all day long. But thankfully I got no blisters!

So Jeff, Elise, their friend Emily Wilson who was visiting and I waited until the rain finally ceased and took our journey through Central Park to the famous Fifth Ave. Our first stop was the Plaza Hotel, known as the hotel Kevin McCallister checked into on Home Alone 2. The hotel apparently does not allow tourists in, but only the rich and famous who could afford such luxury. Lame.

After we were done taking photos, the next stop on our random day was St. Patricks Cathedral. We went inside and it was gorgeous, but then all the sudden the organ started playing the wedding march song and a father and the bride came out strolling down the aisle. No joke, we saw a wedding happen. Really random indeed. It ended up being too weird, especially with so many tourists taking pictures, so we left the bride and groom in peace.

Next Stop on our journey: Rockefeller Center. It rained again so I pulled out my umbrella. We ate a lunch of soup and sandwiches at Hale and Hearty Soups. And I had this pic taken of me by the famous Prometheus Statue, where they put the Christmas tree.

Then we decided that we still didn't have enough and quite frankly we were tired of walking. So we went to Bryant Park to rest for a bit after waiting an hour in line for half-price tickets for Hairspray the Broadway Musical. It was relaxing and the sun came out finally!

Then Emily had to see Grand Central Station. So we went there and I took this picture. I transferred subway trains here a lot to get to work at PC Magazine every morning.

Then we got hungry. We love Little Italy and therefore went to our favorite restaurant there called Il Fornaio. I had the chicken parmaigiana. My favorite Italian dish and trust me when its made really Italian, it knocks your socks off. So good!

Amazing Chicken Parmigiana. Yum!

Then it was off to Pinkberry, this amazing frozen yogurt place that lets you put any combinations of fruit and frozen yogurt together. My favorite choice: pineapple. After that we headed to Hairspray. It was good but I still thought the movie was way better. But its fun to see it on broadway and how it is done on stage.
