New York City lately has been undergoing a heatwave. Today wasn't that bad though; it cooled a lot from the temps in the high 90s over the weekend. There's seriously no way to escape the heat and I remember it from my mission in Brooklyn, Queens, and Long Island three years ago. It sucks to sweat in your clothes and also it really bites to not have air conditioning.I've done a lot so far, I went to the Statue of Liberty (which was surprisingly more blue than green), Ellis Island, the Empire State Building (which I am going to have to go to again because thick clouds covered the view of NYC and I couldn't see anything) and the Apollo Theatre. The Apollo Theatre was a lot of fun. We all went to amateur night there as a internship group and it was definitely a New York experience. Its a talent audition where anyone can sing, dance, or do whatever and the audience can cheer on the person or boo them off stage. I thought a lot of the acts were good and it was hard to just boo someone off stage. I guess its because I am so used to the culture in my church where we are always nice to everybody and just the thought of being brutally mean to someone like that is just not something you would do. But it was fun to boo some people. There were a few acts that were just lame.
